(Smug note: I managed to match the pattern on the flap with the body of the bag! Yay!)
The changing mat fits neatly in the centre, so all ready now to stuff full of baby things for a day out in the jungle!
A new Mum and Dad approached me for their first purchase in preparation for their expected addition to the family! Isn't that lovely? The fabric needed to be leafy and the bag roomy and able to be carried on your back to leave hands free! I sent them lots of leafy pictures and they chose this vibrant jungle print. I already had a lovely green cotton for the lining and a colourful ladybird waterproof fabric for the changing mat. I included zipped pockets back and front, with small ribbon zip pulls, rather than my usual beads (health & safety!). The back pocket is lined with waterproof fabric, which is bound to be useful at some point! It has a zipped top for extra security under the flap and four elastic topped pockets inside. Adjustable shoulder straps to fit both Mum and Dad and a handy grab loop on top! (Smug note: I managed to match the pattern on the flap with the body of the bag! Yay!) The changing mat fits neatly in the centre, so all ready now to stuff full of baby things for a day out in the jungle! 03/05/18 Update: I also made a matching zipped purse and drawstring bag, which was a gift from me at the baby shower!

My last post in this epic series! Baby Change BagsAn essential piece of kit for the new Mum, often a bespoke request from Grandma to be! The open sided first design unfolds, so that once the pockets have been emptied, you can attach the matching changing mat via velcro strips to lay baby onto an extra soft layer. The other design is a conventional bag with a zipped top and a matching changing mat and oodles of pockets. Priced from £85, depending on fabric and size of bag.
Another baby changing bag commissioned by a doting Granny & Grandad-to-be. This time in Klippan Shore Birds fabric by Lotta Glave from Malmo in Sweden. Of course I had to put them with 'Small Wave in blue & grey', a Riley Blake design and then put some fishes (well, little whales) into the waves, both of which made the long journey across the Atlantic to be included in the fun! This one has seven pockets in all, including a zipped waterproof pocket on the outer side and two more elastic topped pockets on the front and some extras including changing mat, zipped purse and waterproof pouch. The usual adjustable strap and zipped top: nice and practical. Best pampered baby ever, I'd say-but then I would, wouldn't I?
A vibrant and vital piece of kit for a new Mum finally finished. This changing bag is a variation of the huge beach bag I made last year (see the blue stripy bag in the gallery). I've added some elasticated pockets to the front to store those indispensable, need to grab it fast items baby has to have NOW! And a waterproof pocket in the back to house those little accidents. It comes with a co-ordinating changing mat-I love the monkeys and giraffes on the waterproof fabric I had shipped from the US -it was a bit pricy but worth every cent! The interior has two open pockets one side and a big open pocket the other that the mat fits into. It's a roomy 4 inches deep, 17 inches wide and 13 inches high and an adjustable strap means it can be carried on the shoulder, across the body or hooked onto a buggy. It zips up across the top to hold in all the paraphernalia, when it's chucked into the car! My favourite loops and buckle complete the look along with co-ordinating ribbon zip pulls (beads and babies don't go).
A proud granny-to-be has ordered this for her daughter - I 'm hoping even the men in the family won't mind using this one! |
